Some things in life can’t be planned. Kids, yeast dough and what happens when someone gives you your first ball of yarn.

01 — About me

The hardest and loveliest job.

My name is Ivana, but at home everyone calls me Ivka. Right now I’m on parental leave with our two little kids, which is both the hardest and the loveliest job I’ve ever had.

When I find a moment (and sometimes I do), I bake and crochet. Not as a hobby. More as a way to stay myself in the middle of everyday chaos.

02 — What I love

Flour and yarn

Two things that slow time down, even in a house full of kids.

Baking

I love recipes that mean something. A birthday cake, a cake for visitors, something sweet just because it’s raining outside and the kids are finally asleep. It’s not about perfection. It’s about what stays on the table and in our memories.

I bake what my family actually loves to eat. Including the moments when things don’t turn out the way they should.

Crochet

I discovered crochet relatively late, and since then I’ve never been without a project on the go. There’s something calming about it: you turn a ball of yarn into something concrete, tangible, your own.

There’s always one project in progress and a few more waiting patiently in the basket.

03 — Home

Hviezdoslavov

Tomáš, the kids and I live in Hviezdoslavov, a small and peaceful place near Bratislava with good neighbours. Exactly the kind of place we wanted.
